WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2016 AWARENESS AND CELEBRATION, MOSONIE SEF

June 3, 2016

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2016, MOSONiE (Common Wealth) Foundation distributed  and planted 800 fruit saplings in 5 far flung villages namely Umlathu, Jolysiem, Timbogre, Upper Jorbil and Pillangkata of Ri-Bhoi District in Meghalaya on Friday. With the theme "Create Recreate and Rejuvenate the Available Resources" this happens to be the first ever celebration in this area.


A cleaning drive and awareness programme on the importance of healthy and green environment was also organised in these villages . The MOSONiE team also deliberated on how the fruit trees can generate resources in the future if they are given proper care. To encourage the villagers, the organization had also declared that award will be given to the best care taker of the fruit trees in the next coming World Environment Day.


The event was supported by ICAR Umiam, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) NERC, BSNL Shillong and SBI Khanapara  Branch.

HEALTH CAMP HELD AT UMLATHU VILLAGE

June 9, 2016

A free health camp was organised at Umlathu village and Nagrabil under Jirang and Umling Block,  Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya on Wednesday. The camp was organised to commemorate the 1st establishment day of MOSONiE Foundation Day with the theme “Health in our Hands” which was  supported by Aid Foundation, Guwahati.


163 patients from three remote villages namely Umlathu, Umsen and Nagrabil availed the service. Many of the patients could not turn up to the Camps due to the poor road conditions. The villagers have expressed their sincere gratitude to the organizers and has requested the same to have regular Medical Health Camp in the area as Medical Health facilities are too far from their reach.

KITCHEN GARDEN TRAINING CUM SEEDS DISTRIBUTION

September 8, 2016

MOSONiE (Common Wealth) Socio-economic Foundation, based at Pillangkata Village under Ri-Bhoi District of Meghalaya in collaboration with ICAR Umiam, Ri-Bhoi Dist. Meghalaya organized training on Kitchen Garden and distributed Seeds along with watering can, at MOSONiE Office premise on 8th September 2016. The training aims to inculcate the practice of kitchen gardening and to improve food production and enhance economy while maintaining household nutrition, to educate the participants on the importance of having Kitchen Garden according to food value. It also aims to usher the villagers towards sustainable agriculture production by creating awareness on the importance of scientific temperament. Farmers participated from four Chartered Villages namely Umlathu, Jolsyiem, Timbokgre and Upper Jorbil under Umling and Jirang Block of Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2017 AWARENESS AND CELEBRATION, MOSONIE SEF

Pushing forward the theme of the year, ‘Connecting people to nature’, MOSONiE Socio-Economic Foundation celebrated World Environment Day in different parts of the villages under Umling and Jirang block, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya. In commemoration of the special event, MOSONiE team also conducted a cleaning drive in villages namely; Pillangkata, Jolsyiem, Umlathu, Upper Jorbill and Timbokgre, carrying forward the message- importance of saving and protecting the Earth and Nature around us. 
Coordinated by two members each, MOSONiE Team also checked on the fruit trees which were distributed and planted in the last World Environment Day, 2016.  In total 800 fruit trees were planted in five villages and in pursuance of the initiative, the team along with the villagers checked on the growth of fruit trees, which was found to be growing so well though some of it died.
The students of MOSONiE NCPE also took part in the event where they were made to observe the nature by taking a transact walk in and around Timbokgre village. The main idea behind this exercise was to instill in them the sense and importance of protecting the nature around them and how one should cherish the relationship with nature.
